About

Pastor John Keller

I am John Keller,  the lead pastor of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Woodbury, MN.   My blog is one way I seek to follow our congregation’s mission statement:

Call All People to a
Vibrant Life of Faith in Christ

The Vibrant Life is to:
Trust in Jesus
Live the Call
Serve the World

Brief Bio  I was born and baptized in Little Falls, MN, but moved with my family to Washington state when I was one year old. I lived there though high school, learning the joy of backpacking in the rain.  I graduated from Haverford College outside of Philladelphia, PA, before marrying my wife, Carolyn, in Kansas City, MO in 1977.  We moved to the Twin Cites to attend Luther Seminary. We raised three children here: Jonathan, Suzanne, and Christina. I served at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi, MN until taking my call as lead pastor of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Woodbury, MN.  Despite some injuries, I have embrace marathon running, finishing eleven since 1999.

Wondering if you have a grandfather Martin Keller. My father went to seminary near Lake Phalen at the old Luther Seminary and his classmate was Martin Keller. I last saw Martin Keller here in Oregon and I am from Iowa but now live in Oregon my father’s name was Rev Arthur Langholz. He had several congregations in Iowa.

No, my father’s father, was George Keller, a county doctor in Wibaux, Montana, where my father grew up (though my father was born in Iowa). My father was a Methodist growing up and became a Lutheran when he married my mom. I have several Lutheran pastors on my mom’s side of the family, Mathre and Knutson for last names.
